The waiting for ‘Mayamohini’ where Dileep dons a new avatar of an enchanting female came to an end on April 7th as the film got released finally. The movie is directed by Jose Thomas and penned by hit making duo Sibi K. Thomas, Udayakrishna team. Balakrishanan (Bijumenon) and Advocate Lakshminarayanan (Babu Raj) are intimate friends from childhood. Balakrishan belongs to immensely rich family in Ottapalam. On Lakshminarayanan’s encouragement and support, Balakrishnan starts a business. Every business proposal that is made by Balakrishan is with the help of his good for nothing Advocate and friend, Lakshminarayanan.
As part of their business wandering they happen to fall in the hands of a high profiled, Mumbai based business magnet Rajkumar Patala (Abu Salim) who has some fraudulent objectives. In the mean time as a part of business deal for Patala they meet Sankaran Potti (Nedumudi Venu).
The trouble begins when Balakrishanan falls in love with Maya (Lakshmi Rai) who is introduced by Patala as his one and only daughter. But it was a trap and in the course they loose all their money. At last Balakrishanan need to show a wife before his relatives for convincing them and obtain all property. Their search for a rental wife ends in ‘ Mohini’ and later on ‘ Mayamohini’ (Dileep) becomes Balakrishnan’s wife. Mayamohini enters his life with some hidden motives. The mystery starts from then and at last mystery unveils and ends in a jovial mood.
Full credit of Mayamohini belongs to the versatile actor Dileep. After ‘Chanthupottu’ and ‘Kunjikoonan’ Dileep once again has proven that, he is a multi-faceted actor. Spanish Masala, Dileep’s previous flick, was only an average success in Mollywood but masala of this ‘Mohini’ will surely give him a fresh breath. We appreciate the actor’s effort in changing into this avatar, and we do realise the pain taken by Dileep like removal of body hair, which does not give a pleasant feel especially, for a male human body. Hats off to the talented actor.
Biju Menon and Baburaj take off and climb to higher altitudes with their comedy express, same as of the movies, Seniors and Salt n Pepper respectively. Baburaj’s combination scenes with Biju Menon are superb. Lakhmi Rai is in her usual glamour- sexy appearance as she did in her earlier flick ‘To Hariharnagar’. Mythili does a decent job. But these heroines were subdued as the original heroine ‘Mayamohini’ enthralled the audience with her performance. Vijayaraghavan, Kochupreman and all other supporting actors have done their roles to the best. Sphadikam George deserves a special mention and his performance was stunning towards the end of film. Double meaning dialogues in some scenes crosses morality but the humour coating nature might attract family audience. Music composed by ever memorable music pair Berny Ignatius sounds good.
Though the movie moves ahead in a brisk pace, it looses its direction in the second half. Audience will miss Baburaj for a short span of time. The film will make us laugh our hearts out, but the storyline would have been made much better. The charm of ‘Mayamohini’ remains unparalleled and keeps us flow with the current of the film. If you are looking for a non stop fun package then go for Mayamohini.
